In the House the special duty of the Hon. J T. M. Britt of Mills county, is to see that the institution for feeble minded at Glenwood is well treated in the matter of appropriations. He is a native of Tennessee, born in 1835. He came to Iowa when he was 17 years of age and when the war broke out enlisted in the army serving in the 29th Iowa infantry. He owns a fine farm near Glenwood and devotes all his time to it. In 1891 he was chosen to represent Mills county in the legislature, and as his services were satisfactory he was returned again in 1893. Most of his work is done in committees, as he makes no pretentions to oratory and is not conspicious by his speeches on the floor.
