Senator from the Twenty-seventh District, composed of the counties of Calhoun and Webster. Born in Ogle county, Illinois. His parents were both born in the State of Maryland. During his boyhood days he attended the district schools during the winter, afterwards becoming a student of the Mount Morris Seminary, and later spent a year at the Northwestern University, graduating in the spring of 1872 at the Chicago Medical College. He located at Manson, Iowa, and began the practice of medicine, being the first physician to locate in that town. Has served as a member of the City Council, Mayor and also as President of the Board of Education; is also a member of the Board of Pension Examiners. Is married and has three sons and one daughter. Was a member of the House of Representatives during the Twenty-fourth and Twenty-fifth General Assemblies. Elected Senator in 1903 and served during the Thirtieth, Thirty-first and Thirty-second General Assemblies.
