Born October 23, 1833, in Seulingen, Hanover, Germany. He graduated in pharmacy in his native land and came to America with his young bride, Miss Louisa Erp-Brockhausen, in July, 1859. Mr. Nachtwedy has filled many positions of trust and honor and was a lifelong and radical democrat. He served as County Superintendent of Schools, Justice of the Peace, member of the school board, Mayor of the city, and represented the county in the legislature for two terms. He was a member of the Catholic Church.
