Born in Richland County, Ohio, in 1837. He came to Iowa in 1863, and located in Springdale, Cedar County, and was a resident of that village for a period of five years. He was appointed Cashier of the West Branch Bank in 1875, at the organization of the bank. He married Jennie W. Lewis in 1861. Mr. Chambers was elected State Senator in 1871, and was in the sessions of 1872, '73, '74.
