WELCOME MOWRY was born in Putnam county, Ill., April 3, 1842; he died while temporarily at Excelsior Springs, Mo., April 15, 1907. He served in Co. D, 7th Kan. Infantry, and Co. F, 151st Ill. Infantry during the civil war and was in many of the most noted engagements. In 1867 he came to Iowa and settled on the farm in Tama county, where he had since resided. He was a member of the 20th General Assembly, and of the State Railroad Commission, 1899-1901.
