Born in Trumbull Co., Ohio, Nov. 7, 1836. In 1845 he removed to Wisconsin, where he remained eleven years, then removed to Iowa. He was married October 19, 1869, to Jennie S. Atherton, a daughter of T. M. Atherton, editor of the Mitchell County Press, of Osage. Mr. Patterson enlisted in the 3d Iowa Volunteer Infantry, serving until the close of the war as first lieutenant. In politics Mr. Patterson is an ardent republican. He was elected to represent Mitchell County in the Eighteenth General Assembly, 1880. He is highly esteemed and is one of the enterprising men of the county. Mr. Patterson has 1,000 acres of good farm land in Mitchell County.
