Dennis O’Brien
Dubuque County
Born in Ireland but at a very early age emigrated to this country with his parents and settled in Baltimore, Md., where he resided until he had attained man's estate, when he started for the west, settling in Prairie Creek about forty years ago, where he continued to reside until his death, and where he owned a large farm. He had received a good academic education, and being a man of great intellectual force and power he was at once recognized as a leader in the community in which he resided. He was one of the first justices of the peace of Prairie Creek township, and a member of the Board of School directors. He was elected to represent Dubuque county in the Tenth, Eleventh, (1864-1866), Seventeenth, Eighteenth and Nineteenth (1878-82) General Assemblies.
