Edwin B. Hoag
Page County
ED HOAG Born in New York, March 23, 1830. At the age of 15 his parents moved to Knox county, Illinois, in 1845. Here young Hoag grew to manhood a farmer, receiving his education in the common schools of that state and at Knox college, in which latter school he remained 18 months. In June, 1867, he came to Iowa, and to Page county, locating in Colfax township. He improved a farm in that township, residing there until 1874, when he purchased a farm in Amity. Mr. Hoag has twice been representative of Page county, serving in the Sixteenth and Seventeenth General Assemblies, having been first elected in 1876, and re-elected in 1878. This attests not only the esteem in which he is held, but his personal worth and ability as well. He was married September 24, 1854, to Miss Rachel A. Newman, a native of Ohio.
