Born at Middleborough, Massachusetts, on the 2nd day of April, 1826. In 1845, he was united in matrimony with Miss Abbie Coombs. In 1850 they removed from Massachusetts to Dane county Wisconsin. In 1867, he removed to Burr Oak, Mitchell county, Iowa, and purchased a farm. In 1877 he was elected to represent this county in the legislature of this state and served one term with zeal and fidelity. He was a member of the M. E. Church.
