Druggist and grain buyer New London. He was born in Warren Co., Ohio May 28, 1826, and received his education at the Spring Grove Academy, Ohio. He emigrated in 1850 to Franklin Township, Des Moines Co., Iowa, where he engaged in farming for six years, then removed to Defiance, in New London Township, Henry county where he remained for two years, then removed to the town of New London, and engaged in the grocery, grain and stock business in partnership with Capt. John Thompson, which he has continued for more than 20 years. In the year 1872, Mr. Allen was elected a member of the Board of Supervisors for Henry county, and served 3 year. In 1875, he was elected a member of the Legislature, and reelected to the same office in 1877, and served a second time. He married Elizabeth Mullen in 1849 and they have one child.
