Born March 8, 1796, in Berkeley County, West Virginia. He married Sarah Cutler on December 28, 1823 in Morgan County, Indiana. He served in the House of Representatives of the first Legislative Assembly of the Iowa Territory in 1838, representing Des Moines County. A proclamation issued by Governor Lucas on October 18, 1838, declared that Mr. Cyrus S. Jacobs was elected to a House seat from Des Moines County. Mr. Jacobs was killed in a duel October 31, 1838, at Burlington before the meeting of the Legislature. Mr. George H. Beeler was elected to fill the vacancy. He died in Dallas, Texas, on July 20, 1861.
