George Helm Beeler was born March 8, 1796, in Berkeley County, Virginia. He married Sarah Cutler on December 28, 1823, in Morgan County, Indiana. Beeler was elected in a special election to fill the vacancy caused by Cyrus S. Jacobs who was killed in a duel October 31, 1838, at Burlington. Beeler took the seat on November 21, 1838. He served in the House of Representatives of the first Legislative Assembly of the Iowa Territory in 1838, representing Des Moines County. He died in Dallas, Texas, on July 20, 1861.
