Timothy Mason
Dubuque County
Born August 4, 1797, in New York. He moved with his parents to Virginia in 1800. He married Ann Eliza Maigne sometime before 1832. He came to Dubuque in 1836 and was ever prominent in public affairs. He early engaged in the drug business. He served in the Missouri War of 1839. He was an early member of the territorial legislature, and for many years connected with school government in Dubuque. He was one of the founders of the Universalist Society and of the Masonic lodge here. His daughters married Ben M. Samuels and M. W. Smith. He died in Dubuque in January 1875.
