Joseph S. Kirkpatrick
Jackson County
Born in 1805, in Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois. On July 13, 1827, he married Rachel Roberts in Hillsboro, Montgomery County, Illinois. Mr. Kirkpatrick served in the Black Hawk War from 1831 to 1832 in Illinois. He relocated to Iowa sometime after the war. Mr. Kirkpatrick served as a Councilor in the Third and Fourth Legislative Assemblies of the Iowa Territory 1840-41, and was a delegate to the 1844 Iowa Constitutional Convention representing Jackson County. He moved to Yuba, California, by 1852 and his wife Rachel died in Marysville, California, in 1859. The census record shows that he lived in Spokane, Washington Territory in 1887. Mr. Kirkpatrick died April 9, 1892, in Eureka, Humboldt, California.
