Born in 1804 in North Carolina. He married Eleanor J. Crawford circa 1830. He represented Benton, Cedar, Jones, and Linn Counties in the House of Representatives of the Fourth Legislative Assembly of the Iowa Territory from 1841 to 1842. He died in December 1878 in Volcano, Amador County, California.
