Henry County
Born in Adams County, Pennsylvania, in 1784. At the age of twenty-six he enlisted as a soldier in the War of 1812. He was a captain in the 5th Regiment of the Pennsylvania militia. In the spring of 1814 he went to Ohio, and in 1816 he was elected a Representative from Wayne County. In 1820 he was elected as a Senator. He came to Iowa Territory and located in Mt. Pleasant. He was married to Mary Hoagland and they had six children. He died in Mt. Pleasant, January 7, 1852.
