Born September 14, 1805, in Berkley, Bristol, Massachusetts, to Thomas Andros and Sophia Sanford. He attended Brown University, graduating with a medical degree in 1826. He married Elizabeth Bunker in 1828 in Plymouth, Chenango, New York. The couple moved to Iowa in 1833, and settled in Dubuque. It is believed Dr. Andros was the first physician to practice medicine in Iowa. They moved to Clayton County in 1837, where Dr. Andros served the people of Clayton in the House of Representatives of the Fifth Legislative Assembly of the Iowa Territory. His wife Elizabeth died November 6, 1879, in McGregor, Iowa. Following her death, he relocated to the Dakota Territory, where he is listed as living in 1880 by U.S. Census Records. He died in Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota on April 27, 1895.
