Born February 20, 1816, in Pennsylvania. He made his way west to Iowa, where he served Henry County in the House of Representatives of the Sixth Legislative Assembly of the Iowa Territory. He lived in Iowa until at least 1850, but moved to Kern, California, by 1870, according to U.S. Census records. He was married twice, first to Emeline Lewis and second to Margaret Rohr. He died November 3, 1894, in Bakersfield, Kern, California.
