Born in 1802 in Sweden. He immigrated to the United States and eventually settled in Iowa, where he served Des Moines County in the House of Representatives of the Sixth and Seventh Legislative Assemblies of the Iowa Territory. He is listed in U.S. Census records as living in Jefferson, Iowa in 1870 with his wife, Anna. He died August 5, 1891 in Burlington, Des Moines County, Iowa.
