Born in New York in 1796, he was a farmer, surveyor and member of the Iowa Territorial and State Legislatures. He moved to Indiana to work as a surveyor and eventually settled near Rome in Henry County, Iowa. Mr. Woodworth married Mary Sample (born 1804) and had 9 children. She died in January 1845. He then married Susan Beaty Crawford in 1849, and they had 2 children. He was a Whig party affiliate and served in sessions 7 and 8 of the Iowa Territorial Legislature (1845-1846), and the 2nd Iowa General Assembly (1848). He died of cholera at his farm near Rome in 1851.
