Des Moines County
Born on March 8, 1812, in East Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He moved to Burlington in 1836. In 1844 he married Elizabeth Mary Carroll. In 1845 he was a representative of Des Moines County of the 7th Territorial Legislative Assembly. Mr. Noble was a stone mason by trade and also engaged in milling, merchandising, and farming. In 1850 he moved to California in search for gold but after three years he returned to Burlington. In 1856, he moved to a farm near Mt. Pleasant in Henry County. During a visit to his sister’s house in Danville, Mr. Noble was driving a bull from one field to another when the animal turned and killed him instantly. He died October 1, 1893. He was a kind and good neighbor, ever ready to accommodate others when it was possible for him to do so. He was prominent in public affairs and was looked upon as a solid, substantial citizen.
