John Bradshaw Johnson was born in Blue Hill, Hancock County, Maine, October 21, 1812. He married Mary Jane Griffey of Virginia in Des Moines County, Iowa, in 1844. They had two sons, Albion and John Lander. He was a farmer and a carpenter. He died September 12, 1852, in Burlington, Iowa. He served Des Moines County in the House of Representatives of the Sixth and Seventh Legislative Assemblies of the Iowa Territory.
