Born in Ohio in 1800. In 1832 in Brookville, Franklin, Indiana, he married Elizabeth Booher. By 1840 they were living in Lee County, Iowa. He was a member of the 7th Legislative Assembly (1845-1846) where he represented Jefferson County. By 1850 they had moved to Clackamas, Oregon, where he was a farmer. He died December 22, 1857, in Healdsburg, Sonoma, California.
