Shubael Coy
Clinton County
Born March 3, 1793, in Connecticut. He married Clarissa Kinsley on August 29, 1819, in an unknown location; however, one of his sons was born five years later in Indiana. In 1840, Mr. Coy and his family lived in Portage, Ohio, according to United States Census records. They later moved to Iowa, where he served Clinton County in the House of Representatives in the Seventh and Eighth Legislative Assemblies of the Iowa Territory. On January 24, 1847, his wife, Clarissa, died in Clinton County. On December 31, 1848, Mr. Coy married Sarah Gregory Nixon. The couple lived in Clinton County until his death on August 22, 1870.
