Factory worker for Deere and Co., vice president for UAW Local 838. Member: Sierra Club, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. Life member of NAACP; Amvets Post 49, Cedar Falls; American Civil Liberties Union, Common Cause, National Organization for Women. President and founder of the Iowa Freedom Foundation. Vice president of Iowa UAW CAP Council. Catholic. Wife, Bonnie Jean; six sons and one daughter. First term.

Appointed to Black Hawk County Crime Commission, 1970. Member of board of directors of McElroy-ConWay Civic Center, Goodwill Industries, University of Iowa Alumni Council, and Common Cause. Vice president of Iowa UAW CAP Council. Served as chairman of Black Hawk County, 3rd District, and State Democratic Platform committees, 1978; currently on Iowa Democratic State Central Committee. Catholic. Wife, Bonnie Jean; six sons and one daughter. First term.
