Hartley Democrat 48th Senatorial District O'Brien, Osceola and Dickinson Counties. Born at Dunlap, Iowa, Dec. 13, 1918, son of Mrs. Howard W. Nurse and the late Howard W. Nurse of Dunlap. Educated in Dunlap school and graduated from Iowa State University in 1947 with a degree in vocational education. Taught vocational agriculture at Hartley High School. Taught veterans-on-farm training in O'Brien County and did some farm management work. Now has a private real estate and farm accounting business in Hartley and is a salesman for General Life of America Insurance Company. Married Elaine Blake 1966. Father of two children, Dennis and Linda; two stepchildren, Pamela Blake and Sharon Van Briessen. Member of the Masonic Lodge, Kiwanis Club, Iowa Association of Realtors, National Association of Realtors, Iowa Great Lakes Board of Realtors, National Society of State Legislators, Chamber of Commerce. Member of Methodist Church. Serving second session in Senate.
