Served in U.S. Army Air Corps, Feb. 1943 to Nov. 1945, pilot, B-24, 13th Air Force, Southwest Pacific Theatre. Married Carolyn Woods and they have three daughters, Kathryn A., Martha B., and Elizabeth M. Member of Episcopalian Church, Elks, Masons, V.F.W., American Legion, Izaak Walton League, Farm Bureau, Louisa County, Iowa State and American Bar Associations; Sigma Nu and Phi Delta Phi fraternities; County Attorney, Louisa County, 1953-1957; Chairman Wapello Planning and Zoning Commission, 1966.
