Elementary education in Cedar Rapids and Mason City, Iowa, and graduated from high school in Medicine Hat, Canada. Married Lenna Mariner, 1925, and they have one son, Richard H. Member of Methodist Church, Shrine and other Masonic Bodies; Iowa Chiefs of Police Assn., Iowa Policemen's Assn. and U.C.T. Member of Mason City Police Department for 31 years, serving 16 years as Chief. Chairman of State Liquor Control Commission, 1951-1957. Retired chief of police. Elected to second term.
