Born August 2, 1818, in New York State, and died in 1882 in Columbia County, Oregon. He married Adeline Eliza Francis on July 13, 1843, in Clayton County, Farmersburg Township, Iowa. Mr. Wood was a farmer and a Methodist minister. The family crossed the plains in 1853, with an ox-team, from Iowa, and settled at Oregon City, where they resided until 1858, when they moved to Columbia County, near Westport.
