Born in Madison, Virginia, on September 10, 1802. He passed away on November 27, 1869 in Benton, Oregon. Michael H married Sarah Johnson and had 4 children. He brought his family from Appanoose County, Iowa, to Benton County with the HINKLE train in 1853. The Walkers settled on or near Beaver Creek, and devoted themselves to farming. They got on well and suffered no hardships for they were able to supply their own eggs, milk, butter, meat, fruit and vegetables. They also made their own stockings from wool which they raised, carded and spun by hand. Mr. Walker was an educated man and a school teacher. He was a member of the State Legislature serving in the Second General Assembly, 1848, and was a justice of the peace for years. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
