It becomes our melancholy duty to announce the decease of Joseph F. Harrison, member of the House of Representatives from this district, aged 44 years, of an affection of the lungs, after an illness of about ten days. He leaves an almost helpless orphan family of seven small children, his wife having died about a year since. Mr. Harrison as a gentleman was highly esteemed in private life; as a Representative he was acknowledged to be one of the most able and influential members of the House, in which capacity he won for himself numerous admirers and friends. In his death the people of the State at large, as well as those of his own immediate district, have sustained a heavy loss.
