Tau Beta Pi, engineering fraternity, and Sigma Xi, honorary scientific fraternity. Member of Methodist Church, Elks, Masons, Consistory, Knights Templar, Shrine and Eastern Star. Member of American Society of Mechanical Engineers, American Society of Tool and Manufacturing Engineers and Iowa Engineering Society. Research Engineer, Battelle Memorial Institute, Columbus, Ohio, 1935-36; Results Engineer, Appalachian Electric Power Co., Cabin Creek, West Virginia, 1936-37; Fuel Engineer, Carnegie-Illinois Steel Company, 1937-1942. Founder and president, Schmarje Tool Co., 1942 to present. Founder and president, Ronda Button Co., 1945 to 1967. President, Shell Export Co., 1967. Married Doris I. DeCamp, 1933; three children, David P., Ronald R., and Diane S. Wood. Registered professional engineer. Elected to first term.
