Born in Urbana, Ohio, September 10, 1822, where he resided with his parents until 1841, where Price Sr., brought his family to the then territory of Iowa. He settled near Iowa City. Abraham commenced the study of medicine in Iowa City, attended one course of lectures in St. Louis. He came to Sigourney in 1847, continued his studies and attended one course of lecture. After he settled in Sigourney the doctor commenced the practice of medicine there and soon had an extensive practice in the territory. Mr. Price married Amanda F. Stebbins of Sigourney in 1852. Mr. Price took an active part in the affairs of the community in which he resided. Politically he was first an old line Whig and ever ready to defend the principles of the party by argument. He assisted in organizing the republican party and on that platform he was elected to represent Keokuk county in the Sixth General Assembly of the state. He was one of the prime movers in getting up the Keokuk County Old Settlers Organization. He joined the Mason Lodge early in the fifties.
