Johnson County Democrat Born Jan. 17, 1937, in Ames, Iowa. At Ames High School he was an all-state athlete in football and member State Championship basketball and track teams. Graduated University of Iowa 1960. Received M.A. in political science and J.D. degree in law from University of California. He and his wife, Myra, are parents of three daughters: Margot, Vera, and Elsa. Practices law in Iowa City. From 1965 to 1967 legislative assistant to Congressman Neal Smith of Iowa. While with Congressman Smith, Mezvinsky received Presidential commendation for his work to protect the public in the areas of traffic and highway safety and meat inspection. A member of Omicron Delta Kappa, national honorary leadership fraternity. Serving first term.
