Married Merna Irvine in 1934. Parents of one son, James, 34, teacher in Bettendorf Public Schools. Mrs. McGill teaches in Albia Community School System. Member of United Methodist Church. County lay leader and lay speaker and holds various other offices in the Russell United Methodist Church. Senator McGill served in public school administration 27 years in Iowa and Colorado.
