One of the oldest settlers of the county, Mr. Jones owned a large amount of town and county property. He was a farmer by trade. He was elected representative over David Bishop, a Republican. Mr. Jones made a very good Representative. He was elected as a Democrat but it was not long after until he became a Republican. In 1860 he was the Republican candidate for County Judge, but he was defeated by Lewis Mayo, Mr. M. having received eleven more votes. Mr. Jones for a long number of years was an active citizen.
