Born at Harrisburg, Kentucky, on September 15, 1814. At the age of thirty he was married to Miss Jane Roach, of Kentucky, and on the same day upon which the ceremony took place they came west to Missouri, where they remained until 1849. Mr. Conner at that time purchased and for several years operated the mill now known as Shamhaugh's mill. In 1857 he came to Clarinda and was elected treasurer and recorder of Page County. In 1859 Page and Fremont counties sent him to the Iowa legislature, after which he retired from official life and followed business enterprises for a livelihood. He was an honored member of the order of Odd Fellows.
