In that faith he was twice elected to the State Senate, serving in the 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th General Assemblies. He was united in marriage to Miss Sarah Elizabeth Underwood, August 5, 1845, at Roseville, Ohio. He was a breeder of shorthorn cattle, and a farmer.
