Born in Indiana on November 16, 1836. He came to Iowa in 1861, and located in Springdale, and in 1872 engaged in the general merchandising business. He married Eliza Moore in 1861. Mr. Macy was elected in 1877 as Representative of Cedar County. They are members of M. E. Church.
