Born in Manchester, Connecticut, on 8 February 1832 to Diodate Brockway Lyman and Eliza Vibbert. He married Jane Maria Preston at Vernon, Conn., April 10, 1856. Henry and Jane had 5 children. He died in 1900, Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. H. B. Lyman was president of the Exchange Banker in Dunlop, Iowa and was elected in 1877 as a representative to the Iowa General Assembly. He served in the Civil War in the Northern Border Brigade - Company D.
