Born April 22, 1838, in Ohio. He was educated in the common schools of Illinois, and also attended Hedding College, at Abingdon, Knox county, that state. While attending college he began to study law, and December 18, 1865, came to Marshalltown and entered the law office of L. W. Griswold. In 1866 he was admitted to the bar at Marshalltown and here he began to practice. He was a republican in politics, and was one of the judges of the Seventeenth judicial district. He served as mayor of Marshalltown for three terms (1868-1871) and city solicitor from 1876-78. He was elected to the State Legislature and served in the Seventeenth and Eighteenth General Assemblies. Mr. Park was married September 22, 1868, at Marshalltown, to Miss Martha J. Webster.
