Born in Clayton County, Iowa, October 8,1843, and died at Clarion Iowa, on January 19,1919. He was educated in the public schools and at Upper Iowa University. He was admitted to the Bar of Iowa in 1867 and in 1868 commenced practice at Alden, Hardin County, at which he continued in his rapidly extending practice until the early part of 1881, when he came to Clarion. When he first came to Clarion he became associated with N. F. Weber, under the firm name of Nagle & Weber. In 1884, Mr. Weber retired and B. P. Birdsall joined Mr. Nagle under the firm name of Nagle & Birdsall. This firm continued until January, 1894, when Mr. Birdsall commenced his duties as Judge of the Eleventh Judicial District. Mr. Nagle was a Representative in the Legislature from Hardin County, serving in the Eighteenth General Assembly. During his residence in Clarion, he served the community in many minor positions, such as member of the public school board, town councilman, park commissioner, and public library trustee, to the great benefit of all. Mr. Nagle was a man of the highest character. As a lawyer he gave every interest entrusted to him his entire attention and ability. He was known as one of the best lawyers in this part of Iowa, and for years was on one side of every important case tried in the Court of Wright County. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
