Born in Harrison county, Ohio, November 2, 1832. In 1866 he removed to Muscatine, Iowa; and in 1883 he settled on a farm in Jasper county, then in 1892 became a resident of Newton. He had served six years as a member of the Jasper County Board of Supervisors. He was also a member of the House of Representatives in the 19th Iowa General Assembly. He joined the M. E. church when a young a man and was active and prominent in all church work. Mr. Donahey was married to Miss Eliza Uhl of Holmes County, Ohio and to this union five children were born.
