Born December 15, 1844, the son of Rev. William and Sally (Blake) McCulloch of Ashfield, Massachusetts. When he was 12, the family moved to Lee County, Illinois. On March 2, 1867, William Henry McCulloch was united in marriage to Ellen S. Allen of Silver Creek, Michigan. In 1869, they moved to Hickory Grove Township, about two miles west of Newburg on a farm. William H. McCulloch was a farmer until here retired in 1904 and moved to Grinnell, Iowa. He served in the Iowa Legislature in 1884. Mr. McCulloch brought Angus cattle to this area and maintained the herd until his retirement. William H. McCulloch died September 27, 1934.
