PHIL LIVINGSTON Born October 17th, 1839, and is a native of New York. He lived there until 1862, when he went to Janesville, Wisconsin, and there taught school and began studying law. In 1864 he entered the army as quartermaster clerk for Capt. J. C. Mann, post-quartermaster for Sheridan's army in the Shenandoah Valley. He served until the close of the war, returned to Wisconsin and continued the study of law. He was admitted to the bar in that State in 1866. Mr. Livingston was married in that year to Miss A. E. Wemple, a native of New York. In 1867 Mr. Livingston came to Moingona and became station agent for the C. & N. W. railroad. He served as a member of the Iowa House in the 20th General Assembly and for three terms held the office of clerk of the district court in Boone County. In 1877 he returned to Moingona from Boone and took charge of the post-office. As an official he is prompt, perfectly reliable and very efficient, and has an excellent standing in his profession.
