Resident of Pleasant Grove Township, he was born in Oakland County, Michigan, on January 10, 1851, and is the son of Thomas and Ann (Lester) Lyons. He is the eldest child of a family noted for their intelligence, sound judgment and sterling worth. He arrived in Iowa with his parents, February 15, 1855, and lived upon the farm with his father until he became of age, receiving in the meantime a good education. He was united in marriage with Miss Jane Hazlett, March 4, 1874. Mr. Lyons is a member of the Republican Party, and at the election held November 3, 1885, was elected Representative in the General Assembly of Iowa, in which position he acquitted himself in a manner creditable to himself and constituents.
