Born October 22, 1852, at Columbia, Ohio, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John P Holiday. He removed with his parents to Fairfield in 1855. They moved to Decatur, Illinois, where he grew to young manhood. He attended school at Mt. Pleasant. In 1874 he located in Morning Sun and for a number of years was in the druggist business. He served as clerk in the J. H. Delzell dry goods store and after a time purchased his stock of goods and for many years carried on the business selling out his interest in the store in 1923, when he retired. He was united in marriage in June 1870 to Miss Sarah M. Delzell who passed away in 1893. He was then united in marriage December 27, 1897 to Miss Carrie E. Francisco. He was a life-long member of the Methodist Church, served for 17 years as superintendent of the Sunday school, and for many years as a member of the board of trustees of the church. He always took an active interest in political affairs and served as state representative in the Twenty-third and Twenty-fourth General Assemblies, 1890-1894.
