Grundy county will be represented in the house this session by a democrat, the Hon. Thomas Emmett of Reinbeck. He has been a resident of this state all his life, born in Tama county, March 21, 1856. He was born and raised on a farm and has made farming his business and study. Aside from his extensive farming business he is engaged in raising, buying and shipping stock. His stock business is an extensive one, built up in 1878, and carried on continuously ever since. Mr. Emmett was a resident of O'Brien county two years. He was married to Miss Maria Greelis, May 5, 1886. They have two little girls, Ruth, aged 9, and a baby a year old. The democrats selected him as their representative, conscious of his ability to do the very best for them. He is a popular man at home. He has never been an aspirant for public office before, but comes to the House qualified to serve his constituents through his knowledge of their needs in legislative matters, and able to assist them.
