Sac County has been most fortunate in the past few years in its selection of men to represent the people in the house. This year the republicans nominated and elected a man comparatively new in political life, but of ripe experience in public life. The Hon. Charles E. Stallcop is a native of Olmstead county, Minn., born there September 9, 1858. He has been a resident of Iowa sixteen years. He was married May 27,1888, to Miss Grace Robinson. They have one daughter 5 years old. Mr. Stallcop is a member of the Masonic, Odd Fellows, and A. O. U. W. lodges. He was educated in the schools of Minnesota, with a finishing course at the Carleton college, at Northfield, from 1875 to 1880. After coming to Iowa he studied law in the Iowa College of Law in Des Moines, from which he graduated in 1884. From 1892 to 1896 he was county superintendent of schools of Sac county. He is now at the head of the normal department of the Sac City Collegiate institute. His education as an attorney, and his later experience in school work have fitted Mr. Stallcop admirably for service in the house. He has lectured extensively over the state, and is a public speaker of no little prominence.
