Born December 10, 1840, in Germany. He settled in Tama county in 1869, and has been one of the leading famers of his township. He was married on May 14, 1867, to Miss Mary A. Pillott, of Nottingham, England. Mr. Cold secured a post office in Lincoln in the early days which was names Coldville, and he was postmaster for eight years. He served his country in the Civil war until June 1865. He has been a life long Republican and was the party leader of his township. He filled every township office and was elected to represent Tama county in the Twenty-eighth General Assembly.
